Avalon is inhabited by all manner of faerie creature. The area is glamour rich and contains many freeholds and natural glens. The original name of this Carribean island has been lost in obscurity. Only the island natives remember and most of them aren't talking. The cover of the medieval resort has been a blessing for the Changelings that reside on the island as there is a willing suspension of disbelief amongst the islands many tourists and visitors. Chimera roam the island freely and have been known to make appearances to the least banal of the mortal visitors to the island's ren faire resort. These appearances are normally accounted for as part of "the show".

The Territories

Avalon can be broken down into three distinct territories: The Ren Faire, The Resort Area and the city of New Hope. The Ren Faire is a walled city containing a castle (where the local nobles reside) and several innes. Modern conveniences here are few and cleverly disguised. This is the heart of the resort. Street vendors and wandering minstrels line the streets. Visitors are encouraged to participate with medieval garb to help them get "into character". Court is held regularly and visitors to the island often attend, enchanted by the pomp and circumstance surrounding the proceedings and by the "talent" displayed by the "actors" of the island. The lure of the Carribean can be felt here as well, and visitors are often treated to ocean voyages on ancient ships, complete with mermaid sightings.

The Resort Area lies along the western beach. It is here that Avalon reflects it's true Caribbean roots with bungalows, hotels and long stretches of sandy beaches. Calypso music can be heard long into the night from the various clubs as well as from roving musicians along the beaches. Long ago the islands founders realized the importance of more "mundane" accommodations, not to mention the profit capabilities. Many private homes have been built along the beach along with several major hotel chains. Many of the Resort's visitors make day trips to the Ren Faire, opting to return to the comfort and convenience of their modern day hotel rooms.

The city of New Hope sprung up from a local village. Once small and containing only local islanders, the city grew as the popularity of the island grew. If Avalon has a dark side, the heart of it resides in the city. Rumors of Shadow Court activity abound where they can lurk in the dank shadows and hide among the cities inhabitants. Additional rumors of vampires and other night creatures plague the city but have yet to be proven by the local Changeling population.

There are several villages scattered throughout the island. Most of them are small and relatively poor, consisting mainly of farmers and local merchants. Those that care to, seek their fortunes among the islands resorts or venture to the city. It is not unusual to find Commoner fae among the village inhabitants

Unknown terrors lurke in the world's oceans. The Carribean is no acception to this. Landbased kithain find themselves faced with unusual kithain in the merfolk, who have finally surfaced seeking help for whatever it is that is killing their populace. The merrow, thallain cousins of the merfolk ,are another piece of this puzzle, hideous and frightening, they are dying as well and (reluctantly) joining forces with the mer and the landbased kithain in saving their underwater world.

Mood -

The Carribean islands are full of mystery. Pirates still prowl the waters. Mysterious sea beasts roam beneath the ocean waves depths. The waters hold their own pull, even for the inland fae. The ocean's mystique calls them all eventually.
